Newswise — MAYWOOD, Ill. – For the 11th time in 13 years, Loyola University Medical Center has been named one of the nation's Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems.
Results of the 2013 Health Care's Most Wired Survey are published in the July issue of the American Hospital Association's Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN) magazine.
"Loyola is honored to be recognized for the role we have taken on as leaders in information technology," said Art Krumrey, Loyola's vice president and chief information officer.
"Advances we have made have allowed the organization to better communicate with our patients and provide quality care that goes beyond the bedside."
Hospitals are recognized based on their progress in adoption, implementation and use of information technology in infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety and clinical integration.
The survey was conducted in cooperation with McKesson Corp., AT&T, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and the American Hospital Association.
The survey was conducted between Jan. 15 and March 15. It asked hospitals and health systems nationwide to answer questions about their IT initiatives.
This year, 659 U. S. hospitals and health systems completed the survey, and 289 were designated Most Wired.
"This year's Most Wired hospitals exemplify progress through innovation," said Rich Umbdenstock, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association. "The hospital field can learn from these outstanding organizations ways that IT can improve efficiency."
