Newswise — CHICAGO – The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) 2013 Annual Meeting and Food Expo® at McCormick Place in Chicago proved to be a huge success. More than 23,500 people registered for the event held July 13-16 to attend scientific sessions, network with colleagues, and visit the sold-out expo floor.

Preliminary Statistics Include:
• Number of Registrants: 23,500+
• Number of Countries Represented: 87
• Number of Student Registrants: 1,720
• Number of Booths Contracted 2,386
• Number of Exhibitors: 1,171
• Number of First Time Exhibitors: 127
• Number of Scientific Sessions: 100+
• Number of Poster Presentations: 1,200
• Number of Speakers: 350+

"I'm pleased to say that this has been one of our best meetings," said IFT Executive Vice President Barbara Byrd Keenan, FASAE, CAE. "The event brought together some of the brightest minds in the global food science community to work, play and learn together in Chicago."
